Having celebrated our 60th anniversary in February 2014, we are the Algar Group’s telecommunications and IT company. Our main competitive advantages are our close relationships and the quality of our products and services. We have been a unlisted public company since 2007.
Headquartered in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais State, we have five direct subsidiaries, and our solutions comprise a complete portfolio of Telecom, IT and infrastructure products and services, such as broadband internet access, landline and mobile phone services, pay TV, data center, cloud computing, service desk, among others (further information in the Presence and coverage section). These services are offered by two business units: Telecom; Integrated ICT (information and Communication Technology) Solutions and BPO (Business Process Outsourcing), which account for 72% and 28% of consolidated gross revenue respectively.
We believe that lasting relationships and mutual benefits arise naturally from a commitment to goals that create social, environmental and economic value for stakeholders. We adopt a sustainable management model that led us to be chosen as a benchmark in the industry for the second straight year according to the 2014 Exame Sustainability Guide.
We are also present in the international Integrated ICT Solutions and BPO markets through Algar Tech, with units in Brazil, Colombia, Argentina and Chile. In turn, we are present in the Telecom business in the main regions of Brazil, with over 19,000 km of fiber-optic networks, and serve over 1.3 million clients in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná, and in the Federal District.
Sustainability and innovation pervade the Company, from the development of cutting-edge technology to our energy efficient network structure. At the close of 2014, we had 17,600 associates fully committed to the vision People serving People, inherited from Mr. Alexandrino Garcia, the founder of Algar Telecom (current name of CTBC) in 1954.
